About Jigyasa

The objective of this Course:

The basic aim of this course is to ignite the student’s curiosity in Science and Mathematics and lay a solid foundation for Class X, XI & XII. We believe that if a child is able to connect his academic studies with his observations in the world around him, he can develop a deeper knowledge of the subject and excel in his studies.

How do we achieve this?

We start our course from the very beginning, i.e. from the birth of the universe. Gradually we progress to the present world where we want the students to be in awe of the numerous miracles happening around them daily (which may seem quite ordinary to a layman), and then become curious about these occurrences. Through our program we want the students to realize the beauty of science, and how efficiently the natural and man-made world around them is functioning based on a few simple Laws
Our program is heavily aided by videos and experiment to ensure effective understanding of the various notions. The class atmosphere is on the playful side with lots of group discussions and presentations. Many of the concepts covered and experiments done in this program, in an easy to understand manner, form the crux of the syllabus in their academic years to come. It is observed that this visual and on-hand experience makes them more receptive to the concepts when and as it comes in their future curriculum.

We give special emphasis to learning through experiments. Few of the experiments and projects are done by students are listed below along with their purpose:

  1. Generation of Electricity from household waste to charge mobile phone: This experiment serves several purposes. The students realize that phenomena they observe around them have simple explanations. This experiment gives them a solid foundation for “Electrochemistry” to be taught to them is Class 12.
  2. DC Motor: An exact replica of the motor taught to them in Class 10 is made by the students and its working verified. This helps them in understanding how various parts look and their working.
  3. Basic electronics (transistor as a switch): This circuit is in their CBSE course in class 12 but is used in almost every Science Project they do at present, viz – burglar alarm, fire alarm, light or sound sensing circuits, etc.
  4. Calorimetry: This experiment clears their concept in various ‘Heat Transfer’ lessons they learn in various standards till Class 11.

Apart from the experiments related to their academics, we also dedicate one project which can be socially helpful. Last year we made a ‘Glove & Shoe for Blind’ which sensed obstacles and pits in the path.
